Art and Crowdfunding

WHAT IS ART?

Art is a way to express emotions through imaginative and technical skills. It is a way of how the individual looks at the world and then expresses his point of view in their own unique way called “art”. It is about beauty, emotional power, and conceptional ideas. The art made by expressing emotions in an artistic form is often named as "work of art" which has spiritual and aesthetic value. Some minds even consider art to be an escape from the cruel reality where selfishness, obnoxiousness and betrayal exists. Even people in trauma turn to art as it is an escape where even loneliness feels beautiful and acts as a place giving a feeling of ‘home’.  Various philosophers tried defining it but failed as the word has different meaning and importance to every other person. Many well-known philosophers like Plato and Socrates questioned the meaning of art. Art is a form of Divine madness is what Socrates agreed with. The closest abbreviation of it is known as creative art or fine art which was coined in the 17th century. Artistic works have existed from the day humankind came into existence, from designing the wheel, painting and decorating caves,  making equipment to kill animals and even in building a fire , from prehistoric to contemporary art. The proof of this artistic foundation can be found in cities of Persia, India, China, Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and in the ancient civilizations of Inca, Maya, Olmec, and Mesopotamia.

ARTISTS

While talking about art, how can one forget to mention the one who presents the work of art? That person is the one whom we call an artist. Artists can be defined as the people who produce or demonstrate the art and identify one when they look at one.

Just like beauty, art is a form that lies in the eyes of the beholder. Everything in this world can resemble art if one tries to observe closely, the creation of the world is also a work of art.  Oscar Wilde’s famous quote, “Life imitates art far more than art imitates life”, illustrates this.

The way the trees look so green and flowers and rainbows look colorful is the work of art by nature where nature is the artist. A cook, a musician, a dancer, a writer, a sculptor, an actor, a painter, a director, a reader, a mathematician, and almost every hobby and profession is where the individual is an artist and presents their work of art. Every artist is dedicated towards their art, the divine madness which Socrates mentioned can be seen here where an artist even forgets to eat, drink and sleep just to complete their art. Just to get that satisfaction the artist gets when the art is completed. More than the praises of the observer the most important thing for an artist is to be content with the art they make. Everyone is an artist but everyone has a different way of presenting art.

IMPORTANCE OF ARTISTS

The classical branches of art are those who express themselves through painting, singing, dancing, dramatics, literature and by creating sculptors and crafts. Artists are known to record and preserve history. They give a whole new different perspective to everything and play an important role in expanding human evolution. They capture views and stories that may disappear without any notice. They reveal the main essence of raw emotions and the true meaning of the world. Though most of the artists prefer to make art alone they are a part of a much larger and crucial community than one can anticipate. They bring a sense of pride to every community. They make every structure more breathtaking and pleasurable. Art is a universal language, it goes beyond borders and connects the world. American Micheal Jackson is known to almost every kid in the world and the Italian painting of Mona Lisa by Lionardo da Vinci is known to nearly every youth as they are artists and their form of art knows no boundaries.

PASSION AND PROFESSION

Though the role of an artist is important in society it is not much supported due to the unsteady income and financial instability. From childhood, almost everyone is asked to become an officer, a doctor, an MBA, and whatnot but not an artist. A degree is given more importance than talent and this needs to be changed. Every kid is an artist while growing up, some are great at painting, some at playing some instrument, some at dancing, and some at acting but they are strictly told to just keep these interests like hobbies and not dream about achieving higher goals in these fields. The field of artists is underrated as there is no steady income and lesser opportunities. Though some people that have real matured talent keep these talents as a passion and take something else as a profession.

But with proper guidance, hard work, support, and opportunities many artists have reached a spot where they are well known and they are performing arts just like they dreamt of. If one's profession is one's passion it is good for the person's well-being as the person will love whatever they are doing and will be more dedicated in their life.

CROWDFUNDING

Crowdfunding Platforms support the artist through the online platforms. It enhances a wider exposure to the artist and their projects. Crowdfunding platforms act as a bridge between the artists and the supporters who can respect the artist's talent and invest in their art. On crowdfunding platforms, artists raise a campaign, and the interested supporters perform the activity of raising money for that specific cause.

Many other artists like these have been supported by crowdfunding platforms as benefactors came ahead to support their talent. Artists need the support of people, especially their loved ones, to chase their dreams and to do what they love. So, if you know any artist that has the potential to reach heights, encourage them and ask them to stay strong as the journey to achieve big goals while tackling obstacles is going to be a long one.

“Through art, one can easily express themselves and give a chance to various audiences to feel the emotions portrayed by the artist. With Crowdfunding, artists can ease out any constraints, create their own opportunities and showcase their talent to the world. ”
