To commemorate the first meeting held by Rotary that was held on February 23, 1905, World Peace and Understanding Day is annually celebrated on the same date. Rotary International is an international service organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill and peace globally. It is a non-political and non-religious organization.
World Peace and Understanding Day concentrates on issues that have a universal value which includes literacy, education, economic and cultural balance, community development, eradication of poverty, sanitation encouragement of the development, prevention of diseases, assurance of equality, maternal-child health, conflict prevention and peace.
To observe, World Peace and Understanding Day; Here are five ways you mark this day
Programs catering to one issue or another are held around the world. Attend a program that is conducted at a local level and be an active participant in it. Your single voice holds immense value and power and you can’t underestimate the power that it holds.

Start one by yourself.
You can select any topic you are passionate about; it can be child marriage, caste discrimination, or LGBTQ+ rights and share the project with your friends and family members.
Ignorance might be bliss to you, but it isn’t for people from marginalized communities who have to bear the hatred and prejudice associated with their identity. Pick a book written from the perspective of a marginalized writer, you will open yourselves to a whole new perception that you were completely unaware of.
Conflicts have put people in a humanitarian crisis. Relief is hard to get by. You can donate and make sure that essential kits get to them. UNRWA is an organization working to provide humanitarian assistance. You can donate to them or other organizations working for causes in other countries.
Use your social media to champion the cause you stand up for. Your single voice can incite a chain reaction that has the potential to reach as far as possible. That is why, you should never hesitate to use your voice, especially when it matters the most.
