Hindi Diwas, observed annually on September 14, is a significant day that celebrates the richness and cultural importance of the Hindi language in India. This day marks the adoption of Hindi as one of India's official languages by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
Hindi is the direct descendant of an early form of Vedic Sanskrit. It went through several changes thanks to various influences from Persia, which reflects the diverse personality of India itself, a country where every state is like a different country. It is said that Hindi has been around since 1500 BC. It was in the 11th century CE that Hindi began to sound like what we know today, as it began to branch off from Shauraseni Apabhramsha. During the Sultanate period, local Apabhramsha began to merge with Persian, forming Hindi and Urdu.
