Good Deeds to Do in 2023

Good Deeds to Do in 2023

Most people strive to change the world for the better. While you might not be able to stop hunger or stop climate change on your own; these visions require a community of people working together to do good, you can still make modest differences by being kind to others. The new year has already started and many of us are looking for good deeds to do in 2023 as we progress with the year.

Bucket lists, to-do lists, reading lists, adventure lists, places to visit or countries lists, there are so many lists that we make as a new year starts and get on it to accomplish the things written in them. Let’s add one more list- The good deeds to do in 2023 list. Generally, the world will celebrate Good Deeds Day this year on the 16th of April, but why wait for that day and do good things just for a day? Let’s start today and keep checking things from this list throughout the year.

The world is facing many crises on severe levels, and while national and international organizations are working hard to reduce the crises they need individuals’ help to overcome the obstacles. While donations are one of the widely chosen ways to help society, it is not the only way. You can volunteer for numerous causes and you would have been putting equal efforts into donating to something. Here are a few ways to add to your good deeds list.

  1. Donate blood if you are eligible. You might find various blood donation drives in your vicinity every few months.
  2. Volunteer your time at an animal shelter; an old age home; or an NGO that is working for the underprivileged people homeless in society.
  3. Support food drives, and food relief programs by donating food or funds to the projects that are fighting to reduce hunger.
  4. Support the education of underprivileged children who despite having the right to educate themselves do not have the access to equal and quality education.
  5. Donating to firms that provide free education will help them arrange the resources for the cause in time.
  6. Support a child’s higher education and see that child achieve their academic dreams.
  7. Help someone during medical emergencies like helping with hospital bills, procedures and treatments.
  8. If not directly, be a part of the community that helps others during medical emergencies by donating to fundraisers and crowdfunding platforms
  9. Support to frontline health workers and first responders. Many health workers are not able to stay at home and are working around the clock, you can offer to help with their tasks that they don’t have time to do as an expression of gratitude.
  10. Be a part of beach clean-up drives. A weekend can be the best time to go to the beach and instead of lounging, clean it!
  11. Be part of local groups that work on small levels to tackle the challenges like environment conservation, saving water, saving electricity, caring for stray animals, etc.
  12. Adopt don’t shop. Adopt pets from shelter homes or take home one from the street and change their life for the best if you are thinking of getting a pet this year.
  13. Buy from local vendors often, this helps them earn the apt money that their hard work deserves.
  14. Lastly, donating money to various charities, and attending and buying in auctions and exhibitions can be effective ways to help others.

Though this list is short and has limited things to check off, there are innumerable good deeds that can be done every single day. It can be as simple as staying updated with the current news, being vaccinated, or simply helping someone cross a road who is not able to. Kindness can be shown in infinite ways. So, when are you starting to show it?
