In honour of the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, 14th November, i.e. his birth anniversary, is observed as Children’s Day in India. Jawaharlal Nehru was extremely fond of children. He established the Children's Film Society India in 1955 to create TV programmes and films catered to children. In M. O. Mathai’s My Days With Nehru (1979), he has written "Nehru saw in their innocent faces and sparkling eyes the future of India. He was convinced that no amount of money spent on children and their mothers was too much, and that it was a sound investment for the future."
At Filaantro, we share Nehru’s profound vision and are deeply committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can thrive and excel. We believe in the future of India, and for that future to shine brightly, our children must have access to essential resources, education, healthcare, and nutritious food. Through our continuous efforts with Child Help Foundation (CHF), we strive to make an impactful difference in the lives of children, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to reach their full potential.
Together with CHF, Filaantro has made a remarkable impact on the lives of 49,55,701 people across the nation, the majority being children. From health interventions and educational programs to digital literacy initiatives, we have worked tirelessly to provide holistic support to children in need. Our platform hosts fundraisers for children facing various challenges, from life-threatening health conditions to financial obstacles in education. Through the generosity of our donors, children battling severe illnesses like cancer, thalassemia, heart diseases, and more have received life-saving treatments.
We take immense pride in our ongoing health campaigns, as they are lifelines for families and children facing medical adversities. By hosting fundraisers on our website, Filaantro provides an accessible way for people to support children struggling with life-threatening illnesses. Every donation made on our platform reflects the compassion and commitment of people who believe in giving these children a fighting chance.
In collaboration with CHF, Filaantro has organized various health-focused initiatives aimed at addressing both physical and mental well-being. Our programs cover a range of important topics, including mental health awareness, POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) education, self-defence, menstrual hygiene, disease prevention, and the dangers of gendercide. Each session is carefully designed to educate, empower, and protect children, enabling them to navigate the challenges they may encounter.
Filaantro recognizes that education is the foundation for a prosperous future. To foster curiosity and creativity among young learners, we have set up several Mini Science Centres across Maharashtra and Bihar. These centres offer hands-on learning experiences that make science and math engaging and accessible, inspiring children to explore these subjects with enthusiasm. Each Mini Science Centre is equipped with models and materials that help simplify complex concepts, making it easier for children to grasp and enjoy learning.
In a world driven by technology, digital literacy is no longer optional. To prepare students for a future where technology will play an essential role, we have established computer labs in schools across Bihar and Daman & Diu. These labs, each equipped with 20 computers, provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world. By investing in digital literacy, Filaantro and CHF are ensuring that these children will have the tools they need to compete in the workforce and contribute meaningfully to society.
Nourishment is a fundamental need, and yet, many children in India still go to bed hungry. Through our Zero Hunger initiative, Filaantro has made it a priority to combat food insecurity among children. We have conducted numerous food drives, and with the support of CHF and ISKCON, we are actively working to eradicate malnutrition in Palghar, Maharashtra. Together, we are providing nutritious meals to children who need them most, allowing them to focus on their education and growth rather than worrying about where their next meal will come from.
As we celebrate Children’s Day this November, Filaantro reaffirms its dedication to building a better future for the children of India. Together with CHF, our generous donors, and supporters, we aim to create a world where every child can dream, learn, and grow to their full potential. We invite everyone to join us in this mission, ensuring that Nehru’s vision for India’s future remains alive and thrives for generations to come. Thank you for taking the time to read this article.
