It surprises anyone to know that cricket can be played by players having 60-100% disability in their body. However this is very much possible with wheel chair cricket. In a cricket frenzy nation of 1.3 billion where every parent may have a dream of making their child a cricketer, with wheel chair cricket even a child born disability can carry the aspirations of becoming a cricketer. In fact the players who cannot even use self-armpit by themselves and use a urine bag with their wheelchair can play the game of cricket and hit boundaries the fours and sixes. Batting, bowling and fielding are all done on wheelchair. Wheelchair cricket involves players with 60% to 100% disability in one or both legs.

This dream of differently abled persons was conceptualised by Divyang Wheelchair Cricket Association an affiliate of Divyang Cricket Control Board of India in the year 2007. The Divyang Wheelchair Cricket Association handles all the affairs of Maharashtra Wheelchair Cricket Team, without getting any help from any government body. Over the years the Divyang Wheelchair Cricket Association has been organizing cricket tournaments at regular intervals with funds received from a number of NGOs and voluntary donors. These differently abled cricketers will be picked up from various state teams. The four teams are India Blue, India Orange, India Green and India Red. The tentative dates for the tournament are 17th, 18th and 19th December 2021 at a venue in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
