Kerala Floods: Havoc Created by Rain - Need your help to support the locals
More than 25 people have died in landslides and floods triggered by heavy rains in southwestern India. Many homes have been submerged underwater or swept away. The catchment areas and banks near the Manimala river are experiencing the worst flood in the last 64 years. Kerala has received a total of 445 mm rainfall so far this month, which is more than double the normal of 184 mm for this time of the year. A maximum of more than 500 mm rains has been recorded at Idukki, Kozhikode, and Pathanamthitta Districts since October 1.
Sevabharathi understands the urgency of this situation and is working in providing relief to the locals affected by this situation.
Sevabharathi is working on grounds in the Pathanamthitta district.
Their volunteers from all 57 panchayats are working for relief work mainly covering Ranni, Thumpamon, Kulanada, Aranmula, Kozhencherry and Pandalam regions. An average of 15 workers from each panchayath are involved in relief work. 4000 families are badly affected. If the rains continue, the situation will turn worse.

3. Diapers for children and elderly
4. Sanitary Napkins for women
5. Slippers
6. Emergency medicine kits
7. Cleaning lotions and sanitisers
8. Cleaning electrical pumps
9. Diesel and electric powered pumps for cleaning
10. Chain saws for cutting woods
11. Nylon ropes
12. Safety balloons and jackets
13. Raincoats
15. Tarpaulins
16. Cleaning mops
17. Umbrellas
18. Emergency lamps
19. Lifeboats
20. Floor mats, Beddings, Shoes, Gloves
21. Kitchen Utensils
22. Dry Ration- Wheat powder, nuts, rice, sugar, tea powder, oil, biscuits
23. Washing powder and soaps
24. Hard brushes for cleaning surfaces
25. Toothpaste, Toothbrushes and Bathing soaps
Rescue and relief operations are still being carried out but without these basic needs, it is difficult to provide relief to the locals affected. Need your support to help the locals in this difficult time.
