Help Hunger Disappear from the Transgender community
This pandemic has affected many lives in terms of finance, mental stability, and surviving physical challenges. It has not spared the rich and the poor, young and the old, the healthy and not so healthy. Every single person in the community is fighting for their survival and it is much worse among the Transgenders.
As per the 2011 census, 487,803 people are identified as transgender in India. It is considered as a third gender of the community as they are neither male nor female. Relegated to the sidelines of culture, most of the people in the transgender community are forced to make a living through begging, dancing at ceremonies like weddings, and sex work, according to rights groups. While some issues are spoken, some remain to be dealt with, especially in terms of policy interruptions and on-ground support to the community members who are among the most vulnerable.
In 2014, the Supreme Court of India has given the transgender community the right to be self-identified as male, female, or transgender. But due to the ill mentality and backwardness of some people, they are treated as inferior and are not given equal opportunities. Some of them have fought their way through the system and earned a successful place in the world. But still, most of them have to live off by asking for money on the streets and trains.
Transgenders face numerous forms of gender-related violence, fury, hatred, harassment, and discrimination both at home and in public spaces. India has a long road for converging gender justice. Their struggle to earn and survive is difficult and their struggle has multiplied during the Covid19 Pandemic. With no source of income, they are unable to feed themselves and their families. Looking at the situation, the Human rights & Social Justice Association has undertaken the responsibility of giving ration to the people of the Transgender Community. They want to help them in these tough times. When most people ignore them, they want to stand up and help them. 7500 People of Transgender Community, Tribal Community and HIV Affected People in Mumbai are under the Global Rights Foundation and these people are impacted on day to day need of Grocery during this lockdown like situation because of Covid19 Pandemic protocol.
