Swanthanam Old Age Home in  Pathanamthitta, Kerala. It takes care of 63 female senior citizens who do not have a house, family or nowhere to stay. These members range from 45 to 98 years old. The old age home runs on the donations received by various individuals, which makes it difficult for the owners to manage. 

Some of the members of this old age home are the ones who have been asked to move out of their own houses. A few  members were left there as they had no one to look after them. Loneliness, depression, financial insecurity, narrowed social life, and health problems are their everyday concerns. All they have is this old age home which they can call their own. 

It has 23 members out of the total who are currently bedridden due to severe illness. They have to be fed and cleaned by the staff as they cannot move by themselves.  

These members need to wear adult diapers all day as they cannot help themselves. For these 23 bedridden members, 70 adult diapers are used per day. As the old age home functions on donations only, it is challenging for the owners to manage all the expenses of maintenance, medicines, staff's salary and other expenses.

They are in dire need of funds to afford adult diapers which costs:

As per the current daily requirement, they need 26,000 adult diapers in a year, which may increase in the future. According to the wholesale prices, this will cost Rs. 7,20,000/- (Rupees Seven Lakhs Twenty Thousand Only) per year.
