When little Bhojaraj Meher from Kalahandi, Odisha, was just one month old, his parents noticed that his skin had turned yellow and his tiny body was growing pale. They hoped it was simple jaundice that would improve with medicines. However, despite treatment, his condition did not recover. Further tests brought devastating news, Bhojaraj was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia-related Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease.

Now one year old, Bhojaraj has already spent much of his life in hospitals instead of at home. Doctors at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra (900m from Vile Parle East Railway Station), have advised an urgent liver transplant as the only life-saving treatment. In a remarkable act of love, his mother, Padmabati Sha, has stepped forward to become his donor. Yet the cost of the transplant, Rs. 16,50,000/- (Rupees Sixteen Lakh Fifty Thousand Only) is overwhelming for the family.

With four members in the family and limited financial resources, each day is filled with anxiety and hope in equal measure. Bhojaraj’s fragile body fights bravely, unaware of the hardships surrounding him.

A timely transplant can give him the chance to celebrate birthdays, take his first confident steps, and live a life every child deserves, healthy, happy, and full of promise.
