Help Save a 17-Year-Old Boy Fighting for His Life

Help Save a 17-Year-Old Boy Fighting for His Life

At 17 years old, a child should be thinking about his studies, dreams, friends, and the life ahead of him. He should be enjoying his childhood and looking forward to his future.

Instead, Ankit Kumar Sahoo has been fighting a battle that no child should ever have to face.

He was diagnosed with failure of both kidneys and had to undergo dialysis for around six months. His family went through unimaginable financial and emotional hardship just to keep him alive. His father is a Branch Postmaster, and his mother is a private-school teacher. With limited income, they had to sell land and gold ornaments, seek help from relatives, and take on enormous debt to pay for his treatment.

Last year, after months of struggle, his mother—my aunt—made the ultimate sacrifice and donated her kidney to her son. The transplant and related treatment cost approximately ₹30 lakh.

They thought the transplant would finally give this young boy a chance at a normal life.

But their struggle did not end there.

Since the transplant, he has continued to suffer from recurrent infections and serious health complications. His mother's own health has also deteriorated after donating her kidney.

And now, the family is facing another devastating crisis.

He has developed a severe infection that has spread through his body, requiring urgent medical care and further procedures. He has been admitted at KIIMS, Bhubaneswar, for the past 15 days. Although he has now been discharged with heavy medications and temporary treatment, this is not a permanent solution. Without further medical intervention and a long-term treatment plan, his condition remains extremely critical.

The family has already exhausted everything they had.

Their land and gold have been sold.

They have borrowed from relatives.

They are already buried under debts from his transplant.

And now they simply do not have the financial strength to face another round of expensive treatment.

We are desperately asking for your help.

Even a small contribution can make a difference. ₹100, ₹500, ₹1,000—every contribution can help us continue his medicines, investigations, procedures and the life-saving treatment he urgently needs.

We are asking for a chance for a 17-year-old boy to live.

A chance to return to his studies.

A chance to dream again.

A chance for his parents to see their son grow up.

A chance for a mother who already gave her kidney to her child to not lose him now.

Please help us keep him fighting.

If you cannot contribute, please consider sharing this appeal with your friends, family, colleagues and social networks. Your one share could reach someone who can help save his life.
