Samuhik Vivah means a group marriage ceremony where several couples get married at the same venue and on the same day. The priest conducts the marriage of each couple separately as per the rituals. The system of Samuhika Vivaha or mass marriages is popular in several parts of India and is mostly done among Hindus. The Samuhika Vivaha is popular among lower strata of society as the marriages are low cost and generally managed by a non-government organization or a temple.
Shreenidhi Foundation and Research Centre plans to conduct a Samuhika Vivaha for 500 couples in locations all over India. The NGO plans to give a mangalsutra costing around Rs 50,000, a cash award of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 will be given to each bride and bridegroom, respectively, for the purchase of wedding clothes and other needs. Also Shreenidhi Foundation and Research Centre plan to give a cash donation of Rs 40,000 to each couple for purchase of household items and start a new life. There would be a wedding lunch for all the couples and their relatives after the wedding.
All the couples who want to participate in the first of all will have to register themselves with the Shreenidhi Foundation and Research Centre one month before the event and come with their parents or guardians to the venue on the day of the wedding. There is no income limit for registration. The total cost of the Samuhika Vivaha will be Rs 5.25 crore and the breakup of the cost is given below.
Mangalsutra for 500 couples - Rs 2.5 crore
Cash Award - Rs 75 lakhs
Household items - Rs 2 crore
Please donate generously for this holy cause and help these couples to start a new married life.
